2025 Declared “Tirich Mir Year” to Celebrate 75th Anniversary

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the first successful ascent of Tirich Mir, the highest peak of the Hindu Kush range at 7,708 meters, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially declared 2025 as “Tirich Mir Year.” This initiative aims to honor the mountaineering legacy of Chitral while promoting tourism, environmental awareness, and regional pride. Throughout the year, special events, guided expeditions, photography contests, and educational seminars will be held. Local tourism officials are working in collaboration with mountaineering clubs and international organizations to ensure global participation. Tirich Mir, visible from many parts of Chitral town, holds deep symbolic value for locals. Its declaration as the centerpiece of 2025 celebrations is expected to bring attention to the region's adventure potential and natural heritage.
